Situation.
Recruitment for this study was a unique situation. 2.1 million people in the U.S. have rheumatoid arthritis. Most are aware of their condition, and treat it through methods that include medication and therapy. So we decided to take a different strategy – empower them. We asked them to fight back against their condition, and enticed them further with an x-ray of a raised fist.
Results.
For a five-month period, we ran an advertising campaign that included print and radio ads, a study website, a recruitment poster, and an in-office brochure. During this time, our centralized recruitment management pre-screened candidates so sites could focus on those more qualified. This process helped achieve the recruitment goal a full two months ahead of schedule.
