Bipolar Depression

Situation.
This 800-patient rescue study included many challenges: a restrictive protocol that well over 80% of bipolar patients would not qualify for, a placebo arm, and numerous weekly study visits. Our research revealed that sufferers of bipolar depression are heavy viewers of television – a fact that would be the driving force of our targeted campaign designed to appeal to patients, loved ones, and caregivers.

Results.
After our campaign was launched, sites achieved their highest screening rates to date. The study’s overall average screening rate increased by 27%, and the average randomization rate by 25% – all despite only 14% of participating sites taking part in the campaign. Over 2,300 pre-qualified patients were delivered to the research sites. Had our recommended campaign been fully utilized by all sites, enrollment would have been completed at least 6 months ahead of the projected enrollment date.
